The rulebook is a page on this site and a book you can download, and neither is a copy of the other. Both are generated from one source: the rules themselves, as the software holds them.
Why that matters to a designer
A rulebook written by hand beside a game that keeps changing is a rulebook that is wrong somewhere, and nobody can say where. When the book is generated, a rule the deck builder enforces and the sentence the rulebook prints are the same rule — there is no second copy to fall behind.
It also means a rule cannot be added quietly. A rule with nothing to say about itself fails our build before it reaches you.
